Stephen McLeish

Manager

  • Date Joined: 30th August 2016
My coaching career began in 1989 and has encompassed all levels of the game from grassroots to Scottish Premiership. I am currently involved in football in both a full time and a part time capacity. My full time position is based at Borders College in Galashiels as the course tutor for BASE Football, (Scotland’s Leading publically funded Performance Development Programme for footballers) and my part time position is Manager of Newtongrange Star Junior Football Club.
In my role at Borders College not only have I have set up a full time Football Performance course from scratch in 2009, I have also succeeded in getting five players from college in to full time contracts at clubs including Hibernian, Livingston and Dunfermline Athletic. As Manager of Musselburgh Athletic I led the club to the Scottish Junior Cup final in 2015 and rebuilt the squad after five of the cup final squad signing for senior clubs.
For the last decade I have predominantly worked in the adult levels of the game and have been fortunate enough to be involved with successful coaching teams. Indeed as a full time member of staff at Hibernian we had two top six finishes and as a coach at Cowdenbeath we won the Third Division Championship. Additionally I have had the opportunity to work with a plethora of talented players at every club I have worked with, many of whom are now playing in the upper echelons of the game both in Scotland, England and elsewhere.
