Gerry is a UEFA A licensed coach and experienced sports scientist with a strong level of experience in the game having coached teams across all age levels, led teams to both league and cup success, and developed a proven record in nurturing young talent.

Currently coaching within the youth development phase at Barnet FC as well as contributing to the preparation and progression of the U18s, Gerry has gained critical experience in the use of the PMA, EPPP guidelines and the development strategies of a Football League club.

Gerry is focused on the continuous development of not only himself but those around him having not only worked pro-actively to learn and improve as a coach, but also consistently led educational programmes for players in both clubs and higher education institutions.

Key Achievements

  • Finished 3rd in the 2015/16 BUCS league with Bucks New University
  • Gained admission to the prestigious Conference Youth Alliance league beginning in 2016/17
  • Appointed Head Coach of Henley Town at the end of May - within two weeks helping the coaching staff guide the team to victory in the Reading Senior Cup final at the Madejski Stadium and earn promoting into the Hellenic League Premier Division for 2016/17
  • Led the Clyde U17s to a 5th place finish in the 10 team Development League above several clubs with higher tier first teams, as well as coaching the team in the Glasgow Cup tournament against full-time players at clubs including Celtic and Rangers
  • The Clyde U17 goalkeeper was called up the first team squad and five other players were promoted to the U20s
  • The Clyde U15s were only beaten three times all season including a notable victory against Rangers at Murray Park - with one player then earning selection to the Scotland U14 team along with players from elite clubs including Celtic, Rangers and Hearts
  • Helped Newmains keep their first clean sheet in two years while beating the then unbeaten league leaders, before going on to gain more points before Christmas than they did over the entire 2013/14 season
  • Five Edinburgh University players were promoted to higher squads within the university’s football structure to date
  • The Edinburgh University reserve team went undefeated in the University League between September and February
  • Designed and implemented the use of Stenhousemuir’s entire sports science database
  • Oversaw the development of five U15 Stenhousemuir players that progressed to a newly created regional academy, beating out competition from not only Stenhousemuir U17 players, but also Falkirk U15 and U17 players
  • Worked with elite professionals that were competing for Rangers in the UEFA Champions League
