Burnley Football Club are an established Premier League team based in the North West of England and are one of the original founding members of the football league.

The Role:

Burnley FC are building an Analytics department to support all performance-related decision making. The Analytics team will be based at Barnfield Training Ground and work collaboratively with the Football Leadership group. They will provide sophisticated data and information through progressive use of technology and work closely with the existing Scouting Team.

The Head of Analytics and Performance will lead a team of Technical Analysts.

Key Objectives:

Contribute to the Club making critical performance-related decisions through the production of sophisticated data
Develop a Club-wide technology strategy to produce, analyse, manage and report data
Work in a collaborative fashion with all those involved in performance-related decision making
Support performance-related decision making through insightful and clear communication of the data produced through the strategy
Lead the development and maintenance of data collection, analysis and reporting to progress the Club in its use of advanced performance data

Responsibilities:

Strategy-

Work with the Football leadership team to design a Strategy which incorporates the use of data and technology in all performance-related environments
Ensure that the strategy supports the Player Development and Talent Acquisition objectives of the Club

Technical-

Design and manage all technology-based processes which produce required data
Continually adapt the process to suit the needs of key individuals and the Club
Work with technology and data providers to ensure the Club is employing the latest hardware, software and data capture technology

Leadership-

Create a collaborative working relationship with individuals and departments across the Club
Lead a team of highly specialised analysts and ensure they produce unique and insightful performance metrics and analysis, using data modelling

Communication-

The Head of Analytics will report into the Technical Director and work closely with the First Team leadership group and Scouting Team
They will also lead and manage the Analytics Team Experience
Track record (7-10 years) of providing data analytics support in a high-performance sports organisation. Experience of Professional football will be an advantage
Knowledge of how a Training Ground operates and the different types of support required throughout the season and have the emotional intelligence to operate within a high- performance environment

Personal Qualities:

Outstanding communicator with ability to translate complex information into practical recommendations
High-level of emotional intelligence in order to work effectively with leadership team in pressurised performance environment
Strong work ethic with ability to inspire others to provide high-quality support when required

Qualifications:

Minimum Master level qualification in a relevant field dealing with complex data/statistical modelling
PhD qualification preferred
