Job Role Details
Assistant Director of Sport
Denstone College was founded in the nineteenth century by Nathaniel Woodard and is a member of the Headmasters' Conference. The College has undergone a transformation over the last fifteen years, fully attested by recent Ofsted and ISI Inspections, and copies of both reports can be accessed via the College website. There are 617 pupils aged 11 - 18 in the College, of whom approximately one third are boarders, and the average size of the sixth form is 180. There are 80 members of academic staff.
The College offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Denstone is developing a national reputation for sporting excellence across rugby, hockey, netball and cricket. There is a state of the art Sports Hall, an indoor six lane swimming pool, nine-hole golf course, two Astroturf all weather pitches and an athletics track, as well as various ten netball and sixteen tennis courts. Recent additions include the Adamson's Sports Complex, a £2 million-pound facility comprising changing rooms, social areas and new netball and tennis courts as well as a six lane all weather cricket facility. We numerous players in performance across our major sports in every age group with nine former pupils that have left in the last three years with full time profession sports contracts.
Music and drama are thriving at the College, and there is a long tradition of excellence in these areas. There are many choral and musical occasions every term across all ages and levels, and these are held across the campus, including our beautiful Chapel and 200 seat theatre. The Roper Music School was opened in 2010, which contains state of the art practice rooms, a recording studio and teaching facilities.
The academic momentum at Denstone is significant and academic facilities continue to be enhanced with a new classroom block completed in 2017 and a magnificent new library opened to pupils and staff in September 2013 and a refurbishment of our science laboratories in 2014.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Sport, who is passionate about pupils fulfilling their potential and wishes to share their energy with enthusiastic young people. Ideally, we are seeking a candidate who has an excellent academic record and holds relevant coaching qualifications. An ability to coach hockey to a high level would be a distinct advantage, additionally experience in athletics or tennis would aid any application. This opportunity would suit someone considering a career in school sport although no teaching experience or qualification is required. The post will come with single accommodation.
Closing Date: Wednesday 23rd May at 12:00
