Senior Physiotherapist
The Imaging Centre/Barnet Football Club - London

HOURS OF WORK: Full-time including all match days.

REPORTING TO: Chief Operating Officer of Football / Chief Operating Officer of Medical.

CONTRACT: Permanent – subject to 3 months probationary period.


A rare opportunity has arisen to join our State of the art Diagnostic Imaging Centre and Sports injury Clinic at Barnet Football Club which also incorporates a first team role as Senior Physiotherapist.

The Senior Physiotherapist will have overall accountability for managing, organising and developing the sports medicine department with specific responsibility for player diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. As well as providing the highest standard of care, the job holder will take a significant role in the provision of development and education to the wider sports medicine team as a whole. Development of the Physio Therapy department as part of The Imaging Centre as an independent clinic.


To provide evidence based musculoskeletal and medical care to all professional players throughout all stages of the injury process.
Contribute to the department's injury prevention strategies and pro-actively seek out new ideas.
To assess all players with regard to their fitness and injury status in relation to their fitness to train or play.
To maintain ongoing communication with the First Team Manager with regard to player fitness.
To work closely with the First Team staff overseeing all medical matters.
Provide appropriate feedback on diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of injuries. Planning of treatment programmes to maximise player performance and decrease injury recurrence.
Ensuring appropriate provisions of equipment is available at all training sessions and matches.
Maintain accurate and up to date medical records for all players.
Liaison with international medical teams with regards to the fitness of players selected for international duty.
Arrange and undertake appropriate examinations for all players, including pre-signing medicals and other examinations as required.
To ensure the medical department is compliant with all Football League and FA guidelines, rules and regulations.
Ensure the department works within the agreed budget.
Contribute to the department's injury prevention strategies and pro-actively seek out new ideas.
Assist in the profiling of physical aspects of all professional players.
Travel with the team and provide pitch-side medical cover for all first team matches.
Ensure compliance with EPPP and oversee physiotherapy and medical provision for the Academy and London Bees.


Registered physiotherapist member of The Health and Care Professions Council.
Intermediate First Aid for Sport (IFAS) qualification.
Current FA Advanced Resuscitation and Emergency Aid Certificate (AREA) qualification
At least 12 months experience of working in an elite Football environment. Travelled with professional squads.
Appropriate postgraduate training and experience.
Proven track record of returning athletes safely to competition.
Knowledge of injury prevention and recovery strategies.
Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment, incorporating all aspects of football medicine and science.
Excellent IT and presentation skills, and comfortable with all aspects of Microsoft Office.
Well organised, good communicator and Manager.
Full driving licence


The FA Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) qualification.
Sports Massage qualification.
Sports Nutrition experience.
Enhanced DBS check.

The position is full-time and primarily based at the Club's stadium in Edgware, London.

The post holder will be required to perform their duties and/or additional work or attend training outside of normal office hours and/or in different locations, either domestically or on occasions internationally.
