The BSc (Hons) Football Coaching, Development and Administration is aimed at students who want to work in a vibrant and dynamic environment in roles such as coaching, development and management.

This learning in the work place football coaching course provides an opportunity to gain industry recognised coaching awards while being affiliated to an industry leading specific football organisation - UK International Soccer (UKIS).

Within the course you will experience learn and develop the following:

Broad and diverse experience of sport management, coaching and development
Vocational skills and employability throughout the award Core sports and exercise disciplines, including sport management, coaching and development.

On this football coaching course you'll learn about children and youth coaching, football coaching, football development, social inclusion, and sports management skills.

It provides a unique learning experience and will give you the skills required to work within football clubs and/or national governing bodies.

You can develop a coaching profile and work towards your Football Association of Wales (FAW) and UEFA coaching licenses.

The course has been designed in consultation with the Welsh Football Trust, Football Association of Wales (FAW) and UK International Soccer. This ensures that the course meets industry needs, and will provide you with the skills required to work within professional football clubs, national governing bodies and community football programmes.

The degree will be based in the USA with UK International Soccer programmes; lectures, seminars and tutorials will be delivered on site at the University of South Wales and via on-line material.

Our football coaching course allows students to study all sub disciplines of coaching and gain valuable industry recognised qualifications. The course will teach you aspects of working with children and youth coaching, football coaching, football development, social inclusion, and sports management skills.

There will be further opportunity to apply your knowledge with an extensive work based learning programme provided by UKIS, working within specific roles and real life football projects.

Programme and modules are subject to validation.

You will be enrolled as a student at the University of South Wales and have access to an online library, blackboard and other learning materials. Also, you will spend time either at the University of South Wales High Performance Centre or at the USW Sport Park.

You will complete coaching (work based learning) that is managed through weekly tutorials and a mentoring programme. The work based learning programme will be completed within UKIS programmes and will provide opportunities to gain experience in areas such as, grass root club development, football development, and coaching.

The course will teach you aspects of child and youth coaching, football coaching, football development, social inclusion, and sports management skills.

You will also study towards a Level 2 Coaching Certificate, and we will support you in working towards your UEFA B license.

There will be further opportunity to apply your knowledge with an extensive work based learning programme provided by UKIS, working within specific roles and real life football projects.

Assessment methods-

This will be completed via a range of methods including practical field assessment, written assignments, projects, and presentations.

To be accepted onto the course you must have the following:

Applications will be considered on an individual basis - especially when considering mature students / experienced coaches
A-levels to include at least one science subject or mathematics, physical education or psychology. Equivalent Level 3 qualifications to A-levels are also accepted e.g. BTECs, Access courses.
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, including mathematics and english
DBS/ police check
Experience in football coaching
Level 1 in Football Coaching or equivalent Foundation Level football coaching qualification from a football National Governing Body (NGB)
Practical Coaching interview with UK International Soccer and USW

BSc Football Coaching, Development and Administration will require the Coach to be present in The USA between March - November for the three year duration of the course.
